How do I book a photography session with Seaside Photography Hawaii?
Booking your North Shore Oahu photography session is simple. Fill out the contact form with your preferred date, the type of session you're interested in, and a little about what you're envisioning. I typically respond within 24 hours, often sooner.
To reserve your date, a 50% non-refundable retainer and signed agreement are required. The remaining balance is due 24 hours before your session. Your retainer secures your date and is applied toward the total session fee.
What is your deposit and cancellation policy?
A 50% non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your session date. If you need to reschedule, I will do my best to accommodate a new date based on availability. Because Hawaii weather can be unpredictable, weather-related reschedules are always allowed at no additional charge. The 50% non-refundable retainer is applied to the rescheduled session.
What should we wear for our Hawaii beach photo session?
For beach sessions in Hawaii, think light, relaxed, and effortless. Flowy dresses, linen shirts, and soft neutral tones photograph beautifully in natural Hawaiian light. Earth tones, whites, creams, and pastels work especially well at golden hour. Avoid busy patterns, large logos, or overly matching coordinated outfits. After booking, I'll send every client a detailed style guide with specific recommendations for Hawaii beach sessions so you feel completely confident and prepared.
I've never had professional photos taken before. Will I feel comfortable?
Always. One of the most common things I hear after a session is "that was so much easier than I expected." My approach as a Hawaii portrait photographer is built around making you feel completely at ease. I give natural, gentle guidance so you never feel lost or stiff, and I promise the biggest challenge will be choosing your favorite photos from the gallery.
What happens if it rains on the day of our Hawaii photo session?

Sessions typically continue in light rain or cloud cover. If severe weather or unsafe conditions occur, we'll reschedule your Oahu photography session at no additional charge.
Can we print our Hawaii photos?
Absolutely. All final images are delivered in high-resolution and are ready for printing, sharing, and preserving for years to come. You'll receive personal printing rights, allowing you to create albums, wall art, holiday cards, and keepsakes through the print lab of your choice.
How far in advance should I book my Hawaii photographer?
For family, couples, maternity, and portrait sessions, I recommend booking 2 to 6 weeks in advance, especially during holidays and peak travel seasons. If you're visiting Oahu on specific dates, reaching out early gives us the best chance of securing your preferred day, time, and location.
Because I take on a limited number of sessions each month and balance photography with family and other commitments, I’m often unable to accommodate same-day or next-day requests. Last-minute inquiries are always welcome, but availability cannot be guaranteed.
What is it like to have a photo session with a Hawaii beach photographer?
My sessions are designed to feel nothing like a traditional photoshoot. Think of it as a relaxed golden hour walk along one of Oahu's most beautiful beaches. I'll guide you naturally and gently, and within minutes most clients completely forget the camera is there. No stiff posing, no awkward direction. Just you, the Hawaiian light, and candid moments that feel completely real. Whether it's a couples session, a family beach portrait, or an intimate elopement the experience is always warm, unhurried, and personal.
Can we choose our own photography location in Hawaii?
If you already have a location in mind, I'd love to hear about it. I also provide location recommendations based on the look and feel you're hoping for, whether that's a quiet North Shore beach, dramatic coastline, tropical setting, or iconic Hawaiian scenery.
Together we'll choose a location that fits your vision, lighting, and comfort level.
What if my kids won't sit still or cooperate during our family session?
That's completely normal and honestly expected. Some of my favorite family photographs come from children simply being themselves, running along the beach, collecting shells, exploring, and interacting naturally with their family. Rather than expecting kids to sit still and smile for an hour, I create space for genuine moments and connection. The goal isn't perfect behavior. It's capturing your family as you are in this season of life.
What is the best time of day for a Hawaii photography session?
The most beautiful light typically happens during golden hour, shortly after sunrise or before sunset.
Sunrise sessions tend to offer quieter beaches and soft, peaceful light, while sunset sessions provide warm colors and the classic Hawaii glow many people love. I'll help you choose the best option based on your location, schedule, and the look you're hoping to achieve. I always recommend golden hour for couples sessions, family portraits, and elopements.
Do you offer photography sessions on other Hawaiian islands?
I'm based on Oahu and currently photograph most sessions on the island. For weddings, elopements, and special events on neighboring islands, travel may be available. Additional travel fees apply. Please reach out with your plans and I'll be happy to provide availability and a custom quote.
